About PKP Kinesiology

Kinesiology is a gentle, holistic complimentary modality that allows your body to guide you towards balance and harmony. It is a beautiful combination of traditional Chinese medicine and modern Western physiology, to bring alignment physically, emotionally, mentally, spiritually and energetically. Kinesiology uses a non-invasive technique of precise muscle testing to find what your body already knows. Muscle testing allows the kinesiologist to get immediate feedback to help identify imbalances, stressors and blockages within the body. Muscle testing allows your body’s innate wisdom to bypass the conscious mind, to get to the root cause of any given issues at a subconscious level. Utilising a diverse range of balancing techniques including massage, reflex points, emotional stress release, and more, the kinesiologist pinpoints priority areas. This empowers you, enhances awareness, and ultimately, improves your life with greater ease, reduced stress and increased energy.

PKP stands for Professional Kinesiology Practice and is also used to describe how it works. ‘P’ is participatory; this means that the session requires your active participation. It’s not a passive experience where the kinesiologist does “all the work”. Throughout the session will be reflecting and exploring to grow and overcome “blocks”. Through muscle testing your body will provide answers to the kinesiologist who will then relay the information back to you.

The whole process is tactile, which is why the ‘K’ stands for kinesthetic. As a client you get to experience how muscles are assessed and see the impact of stress on the muscles- with instant feedback.

The last ‘P’ is for process. Each session begins with a goal, as the kinesiologist guides you on your journey, supporting and educating you along the way.

  • For an initial session, it begins with a detailed discussion about your intake form including medical and lifestyle history and what has been happening for you. This allows you to share your concerns, goals, and what you would like to achieve for that session. You’ll be introduced to what kinesiology is including demonstrations of muscle testing.

    For a standard session, we will discuss how you have gone since your last visit, and your goal for this session. When you're ready, you can relax on the table. Using muscle testing, we will ask the body a series of questions. These include setting up the body to ensure the brain and body are communicating effectively and “switching on” to receive accurate feedback. Emotions are explored and we discuss the relevance of that emotion for you. Corrections are made to balance the energies or correct any blockages. These corrections can include various techniques that are gentle, however some points may be tender. I will be constantly assessing and checking in to see how the pressure is, as well encouraging you to provide feedback. At the end of a session we will discuss the changes and compare how you are feeling from the beginning of the session, as well as any insights gained. You will be empowered to be proactive in integrating and taking responsibility for the balance.

  • The frequency of your appointments is entirely driven by your goals and preferences. Individuals have different reasons for seeking Kinesiology sessions:

    • As-Needed Support: Some opt for a one-time session or reach out only when they're facing urgent challenges.

    • Regular Maintenance: Many choose to have recurring appointments to maintain their overall health and wellbeing, having witnessed the positive impact on their lives.

    • Self-Care and Personal Growth: For self-care and personal development, individuals often schedule sessions at regular intervals.

    • Long-Term or Trauma-Based Goals: If you're working on long-term issues or trauma-related objectives, more frequent appointments may be necessary.

    At the conclusion of each session, we perform muscle testing to gauge your body's needs and determine whether a follow-up is beneficial. However, the decision is ultimately yours to make, putting you in control of your wellness journey

  • Approach each session with an open mind, prepared to delve into what your body is ready to address. It's essential to understand that only what your body is prepared to explore will surface during the session. Some practical tips for your appointment:

    • While it's not mandatory, you may choose to bring a water bottle. However, we do offer water during your session for your convenience.

    • Consider having a notebook on hand to write any insights or essential takeaways from the session.

    • Wear comfortable, non-restrictive clothing suitable for lying on a massage table. Pants or shorts are preferable for modesty as certain assessments may involve leg movements.

  • Choose comfortable attire that allows you to move freely during the session. For modesty and practicality, we recommend wearing pants or shorts, as some assessments involve leg and feet movements.

    Throughout most of the session, you will be on a massage table, so it's important to avoid clothing that feels constricting, particularly around the neck area. Your comfort and ease of movement are essential during your appointment.

  • Elevate Kinesiology offers a free 30 minute consultation called “Try and See”. This is a great introductory session to see if kinesiology is the right fit for you.

    An initial appointment is 90 minutes, allowing more time to gain important history and to get to know and understand your needs.

    A standard appointment (post initial appointment) is 75 minutes.
